Campsite Lazar Kobarid

  • Campsite Lazar

The campsite Lazar lies by the emerald river Soca not far away from the historic little town of Kobarid. This area is a unique meeting point of three valleys, three cultures and two geographical provinces. Here the harshness of the intact mountains fuses with the mellow Mediterranean climate and way of living which is also reflected in the atmosphere of the camping in the way that you can sip your morning cappuccino while enjoying the view of the ridges and the murmur of the clear river.

In the evening, when you return exhausted from paragliding, rowing, cycling or hiking a fire is already lit in the open fireplace. You can relax to the carefully chosen music in the candlelight while being served grilled trout and other delicacies by the obliging staff.

Beneath the campsite there is a wonderful beach where you can relax by the rippling river and refresh yourselves in its crystal waters. If you get hungry we can make you delicious pancakes. Then if you want to stretch your legs you can cross the footbridge and go for a picturesque walk to the Kozjak waterfall, the main local natural curiosity, or undertake more adventurous activities such as discovering the gorges and pools along the river Soca.

Atop a steep hill above the campsite lies the biggest cultural attraction near Kobarid, the Tonovc fort, with the remains of the fortified Late Antique settlement with as much as three churches. The Kobarid Historical Walk connects all the described natural and cultural curiosities.

Camp Lazar occupies grassy area, partially shaded by trees and enclosed by a natural wood fence. It is equipped with electricity, water, tables and benches. In the middle of the campsite there is a wooden cabin sheltering a bar, creperie, grill and a reception desk. Hot water is always available.

Next to the bar there is a small playground for children who are always very happy at our campsite. In the rainy weather the guests can find shelter in the original wooden cabin, heated during the cold days. Beneath the campsite flows the river Soca and its gravel bank is wide enough for carefree sunbathing.

Kobarid and its closest well-stocked shop are only a kilometre away. You can order bread every night at the reception and it is brought to you fresh the following morning. At the campsite you can get information on a wide selection of sports activities provided by different agencies in the local area.

Kobarid with its surroundings is the best place for paragliding, kayaking, white water rafting, canyoning, hiking, climbing, fishing, cycling and horseback riding. The fall of the borders has opened up a number of possibilities for discovering the Slovenian ethnic provinces in Italy, Slavia Veneta and Friuli.
